Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to visually evaluate pole and log characteristics and defects for classification into varying strength and appearance grades. It includes sorting poles and logs, and marking material in line with grade and on-site distribution.The unit applies to job roles including Kiln Worker, Timber Grader, Treatment Plant Worker, Production Worker and Sawmill Worker.No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. | ||
Duration and Setting | X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting. The following resources must be made available: organisational policies and procedures relevant to grading round poles and debarked logs poles or debarked logs of different size and type equipment for moving poles or debarked logs site procedures for poles or debarked logs relevant personnel for the purposes of communicating information documents, spreadsheets and commonly used proforma documents personal protective equipment suitable for grading round poles and debarked logs Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting.
